The Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) today announced that professional automotive recycler Shan McMillon of Cocoa Auto Salvage in Cocoa, Florida was elected as Association Secretary for 2019-2020. McMillon brings a wealth of experience in the industry to the Association’s Executive Committee and was formally confirmed by the ARA Board of Directors during the ARA’s 76th Annual Convention and Exposition held October 10-12 in Charlotte, North Carolina. “ARA has an almost 80-year history of serving all automotive recyclers and I am very proud to become part of the leadership team,” said McMillon. “It's a humbling experience to have the opportunity to serve our industry at this level.” McMillon grew up in the industry, with her parents founding Cocoa Auto Salvage in 1979. After graduating from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Shan began working in the business full time and eventually took over managing all operations. She has served on the Board of the Florida Automotive Dismantlers and Recyclers Association for seven years as well as Immediate Past President of the organization. McMillon has served as a Regional Director and Board member for ARA since 2016. She has also served on the Board for Recyclers Cross Dock, a transportation network, where she was one of the six founding members. “ARA is excited to welcome Shan to the Executive Committee,” said David Gold, chairman of ARA’s Nominating Committee. “Her enthusiasm, compassion for others, and insight into the many nuances of this industry will be a great benefit to our Association.”
